The best way to remove the smell and prevent it is not just to brush but to floss and brush your tongue. Type of toothpaste doesn’t matter, but I recommend one with fluoride. Listerine mouthwash kills bacteria so it helps a little. But it all comes back to flossing.
The bad smell comes from plaque which is living and dead bacteria and their by-products and the damage they do to your tissues. Removing them with brushing and flossing removes the smell. It sounds really gross, but if you want to convince yourself to floss everyday – tonight floss first and take a wiff of that little white gob of stuff you get out from between your back teeth. Its uber-nasty and that’s where the smell is coming from.
Also, go in for a cleaning and check up and you dentist and/or hygienist can check for periodontal disease and see if you need a “deep cleaning.” If that’s the case you’ll need that and a lot of hard work to fight that halitosis. Good luck!

I use those toothpastes that have those mini breath strips, and it works!
You can eat anything, but you should drink plently of liquids and make sure that it’s not anything that has too much sugar.
    (Something like tea will work)

Also drink plenty of water throughout the day to help your body digest better, get better circulation and to rinse out your mouth. Swish water around in your mouth vigorously before you swallow which will help loosen and remove food particles that are causing the bacteria that makes bad breath.

You might have some cavities and gingivitis that is causing the rankness.

Start off with a professional cleaning, and maintain excellent hygiene with brushing carefully at least twice a day, I use Crest Pro Health. Floss all of your teeth after you brush and use Crest Pro Health rinse to kill bacteria and promote a healthy mouth.

    Be diligent.

    Good luck
