my sister said her poodle got bad breath after she had her spayed. She thinks it was the anesthesia. Her poodle is 12 years old now and to this day has bad breathe. She also has tried everything to make it go away…

i doubt the anesthetic was the cause of the bad breath. dogs have bad breath due to the fact that they lick everything and most have poor dental hygeine (not their own faults, the owners should brush their teeth regularly.)

like Bob Barker says, “have your dog spayed and help control the pet poplulation.”

Bad breath is one of the side affects from the anesthetics. It is cased by a build up of odor causing bacteria in the pooch’s mouth while they’re under, becasue the salivatory glands are not active keeping the bacteria from multiplying. It will subside in a few days. As for getting spayed the benefit clearly outweights the possibilty of bad breath for a few days.
