Try dog biscuits or they also sell a product you can mix with their water that is supposed to help. You should be able to find it at any major pet store. You may also want to think about having your dogs teeth cleaned by your vet.

You let your dog know that YOU are the pack leader, and that YOU will not put up with that behavior. And then brush his teeth. You can also try BreathBusters treats. Make sure that your dog doesn’t have any rotten teeth too.

i give my dog these little green biscuit type bones specifically for dog breath. they are really small, like an inch or less. i can’t remember the name because i put them in a container and throw away the bag. i get them at the feed store or specialty pet store. i know them when i see them, just can’t remember the name. but, they work great along with brushing the teeth. has your dog had his teeth cleaned at the vet? that may help quite a bit, too. good luck.
EDIT: the little green bone shape treats i give are not greenies. my dog doesn’t like those. they are a naturally made treat, geez, i wish i could remember the name, lol.

What I do to my dogs is put dog tooth past on a good size toothbrush and let em gnaw and play
with it.

You need to have your dog’s teeth professionally cleaned. Brushing or using breath sweetners is only going to mask the problem.

Try brushing his teeth when he’s tired from a really long walk or lots of playing. Have him lying on his side, and don’t let him take the brush – you are bigger than your dog, aren’t you? Be gentle, calm, and persist – he’ll eventually stop fighting it.
If his teeth have a lot of tartar or if he has gingivitis, you should have the vet look at his teeth to see if he needs a professional cleaning. If you don’t look after a dog’s teeth and gums it could lead to potentially serious health problems like heart or kidney problems.

Well, brushing their teeth will help their breath, but sometimes bad breath can be a sign of tooth decay. I have dachshunds and one had horrible breath. I took her to the vet for her yearly check up and he said this was probably because she was in bad need of a TEETH CLEANING. If you’re anything like me, you’re going, “Dogs can get their teeth cleaned?” In fact, yes they can and now many vets are recommending it. A lot of people don’t want to spend that kind of money on a dog, because it can run a couple hundred dollars. (Mine cost $150, but that’s cheap from what I hear.) However, I thought of it this way, “Tara, do you remember when you had that bad tooth and it hurt sooooo bad? Well, Holly (my dog) might feel the same way!” Her teeth were terrible. I had her teeth cleaned and the bad breath improved a lot. Plus, it’s just good hygiene because tooth decay causes not only bad breath but a VARIETY of other health problems. I would consult your vet about it if possible.
Also, the “green things” the people above are talking about are actually called “Greenies” and are sold at pet stores. However, they are VERY expensive. They have generic brands that work similar, though! You can also get the breath mints for dogs…but in my experience, dogs don’t like them and they only mask the problem. After i had my dachshunds teeth professionally cleaned, I have been giving her these teeth cleaning treats everyday to help keep them clean. She is older and will not let me brush her teeth….I should make her, but habits are hard to break when they are older, but I do preventative by giving her chewy bones and treats that clean teeth.

first you need to ask the vet the next check up to make sure he does not have any kinds of problems there!
Right now, You can try treats that you get at pet stores, that say brush teeth.
Try to use your finger until he gets use to u working in his mouth, then start using the brush. Make sure you do not have one that is too big for his mouth.
be careful if you use mint, some mint things will upset there tummies
I hope this was helpful.

Read Tara’s response. You need to get your dog to the dental vet and eliminate any physical problems with an exam and teeth cleaning. One reason he may not want you brushing his teeth is if he has a hurt tooth — it hurts!!
I took my cat to a board-certified vet in dentistry and was glad I did. I actually saved money, since he did the teeth cleaning and found a broken tooth with two exposed roots and was able to fix it right then and there. We did not have to get a referral and pay for another office visit and have him go under anesthesia a second time. It was all done at once. My cat was much happier and free of pain, and able to enjoy life again. Just think back to the last time you had an agonizing toothache! You didn’t want to wait hours, let alone days or weeks before getting help!
Get your dog to the vet.

There are some dog biscuits in the market for bad breath. Also try changing your dogs diet because bad breath can also be from the food he is eating.
