bad breath
katie k asked:

Everybody gets bad breath now and then – I know that. He brushes his teeth like he should. In the last month or so, his ‘bad breath’ has changed. He calls it ‘old man breath.’ He was on steroids for awhile for sinus problems, though he’s off them now and the breath continues…just wondering what could be causing this. Only serious answers please.

maybe he has an infection in his gums. have him go to this dentist to get it checked out….. flossing helps. so does brushing the tongue

Drinking? Also he could have food build up way back behind his teeth and gums. Some people get this and never know because a brush can’t reach back there.

It’s most likely the gums. Has he been to a dentist at least yearly?
Otherwise there might have been a change in his diet, which means it could be coming from inside out of him and not just his mouth.
He should get it checked out, as gum disease can lead to more serious problems and we only get one set of adult teeth.

Bad breath could be caused by digestive problems. Have your boyfriend try probiotics, they can be found in health food stores and online. If that doesn’t help, see a doctor because bad breath is a symptom of numerous health problems, including diabetes.

Here are some of the things that causes bad breath like:

A.) What he eat. foods such as garlic and onions. Check the foods he’s into. Be conscious with all the foods he’s been taking. Odors continue until the body eliminates the food.

B.) Dieters may develop unpleasant breath from infrequent eating. Is he skipping foods? that’s one of the reason too. So he must eat foods on time or don’t make him hungry for it may developed acids that turns to bad breath too. Avoid sour foods too while odor still exist for it would only worsen.

C.) if he don’t brush and floss daily, food remain in the mouth causing bacteria. But if he does, try to check his gums if its swelling then its the cause “Gingivitis” that’s a common condition for people who take steroids. If that exist, prepared an appointment for a dentist for cleaning then have a gargle solution as his maintenance & tongue cleaner too.

D.) Bad breath can also be caused by dry mouth (xerostomia) if he has dry mouth, have him more that 8 glasses of water all the time. Avoid juices, sodas for the meantime till odor disappear. avoid alcohol contents in his gargle solution. You can also have artificial saliva in drug stores too if this situation exist.

E.) Is he smoking? Tobacco products cause bad breath.

F.) Bad breath may be the sign of a medical disorder too such as infection in the respiratory tract, chronic sinusitis, postnasal drip, chronic bronchitis, diabetes, gastrointestinal disturbance, liver or kidney ailment.
Since he has just off from the medicines from his sinus problems, there are instances that its not yet been eliminated into his systems. This would usually disappear after 1- 3 months from the last take of medicines in some cases.

there are many causes of bad breath other than bacteria present in the mouth. if your boyfriend is sure of his dental hygiene, then perhaps a visit to a dentist or a ear and nose specialist can help you find the best cure for bad breath. finding the real cause is the best way to have effective treatment. bad breath is not something that should be left untreated because it can also be a symptom of a disease.

Bad breath is caused often because you haven’t brushed and flossed well .If you don’t keep teeth and gums free of the bacterial buildup, they’ll start to cause odor as the bacteria rot leftover food particles in your mouth. A few seeds of cardamom chewed for a brief while will clear your mouth of bad breath. Chew parsley leaves, which are sure to keep your breath fresh. More useful remedies at
