    The breath or the cat?

Cats and dogs usually don’t have minty fresh breath, but it’s possible that your cat needs it’s teeth cleaned, or maybe an oral infection/gingivitis, etc. Maybe you should have it checked to be sure.

    - Change to a better dry cat food
    - Don’t feed wet cat food (builds up more smelly plaque)
    - Brush kitty’s teeth
    - Give Greenie treats that help clean teeth (and cats go crazy for them!)

it could be the cats teeth..when they have a rotten tooth or teeth their breath stinks..look at his gums do you see any spots that look like raspberries red and weird looking..if so it could be the tooth..just take the cat to the vet and have them check it out..make sure its a vet that does dental work on animals…i had a cat that had to have a tooth out ..i took her in for a regular visit and was going to ask about her breath..the vet beat me to it..when she touched her face she said wow…i think we have a bad tooth..and she did…

At places like PetSmart or other pet supply stores, they have special toothbrushes and toothpaste you can use on pets. Never use human toothpaste–the fluoride isn’t good for cats, and they can’t spit it out like we can. Brush your cat’s teeth once a week at first, then work up to twice a week, and continue until you’re brushing his teeth daily. Go to for more instructions. February is Cat Dental Health Month.

If the bad breath continues, you might want to ask your vet if it’s what the cat’s been eating or if it’s a health problem. Brushing a cat’s teeth prevents not only mouth problems and tooth loss, it can prevent heart and kidney problems as well, because infectious material can travel from the mouth to the rest of the body.

some grasses help with the breath . go to your local pet supply (walmart, grocery store etc.) they have a bowl that has catgrass you can grow the cats eat or nibble on some greens and it helps.
he may have some perisites (worms)

Have a vet examine him. There could be problems that need addressing, such as a tartar buildup that needs cleaning, gingivitis, a bad tooth, etc.

If you’re able, you could try looking his teeth over too, but you may not know what you’re looking for, and you couldn’t do anything about it anyway.

they have plenty of things that you can get at your local pet store that taste and smell like kitty treats but the purpose of them is to make the cats breath smell nice… or better than it did.. i give them to my kitty and he loooves them!!
