We have tried all the doggie bones, and things of that nature. He is teething and loosing teeth so when he chews on his bone there is blood so I think that may be why it smells so bad, we have even tried brushing his teeth that didn’t work either. Just in case he is a Pit Bull puppie about 16 weeks old.

If there is blood, something isn’t right. Make sure you are using doggy toothpaste, not human toothpaste. Something is causing the bleeding, and unfortunately, I have to say that the vet is the best person to ask. It could be that something you are giving him to chew on might be hurting rather than helping. Could be something else. But, at 16 weeks, there shouldn’t be blood.

You are correct. The smell is the blood from the teeth coming out. Once they are all out that smell will go away. It is good that you are brushing your pups teeth. I would continue doing that so he stays used to it because you should brush them at least weekly. More often if you are able.

I have an older dog who also is losing her teeth. I found some stuff at Wal Mart. It is like Scope for dogs. You put a capful in their water bowl. It really seemed to help my dogs breath.

My GOD!! Four words dude! HAVE HIS TEETH CLEANED!!!!!! He is probably suffering INTENSE pain right now as his teeth are rotting. What kind of owner are you? CRIMINAL NEGLECT! I am saying PROFESIONALLY cleaned by a VET! Sure it might cost a bit but your dog will die without the dental cleaning. Tomorrow dude! But pit bull owners are usually dirt por so forget that. Turn him into the shelter.

If it’s that bad, take him to the vet and have him looked over. He’s too young to have his teeth cleaned, but might have an infection of the gums. It’s better to take him to the vet, than have problems later on.
Best of luck

There is really no other way to get rid of his bad breath. My dog also has bad breath. Just keep brushing him teeth and giving him the dental dog bones. Also if you go to pet supplies plus or pet smart they have doggie breath freshner mints.

Your pup should not be losing teeth at 16 weeks. Take him to your vet. It sounds like it could be a problem
Do not give your dog any more bones unless they are made specifically for puppies. I suggest “Old Mother Hubbard Puppies”.

It depends on your definition of VERY BAD. Teething puppies have smelly breath, it’s normal and should go away once all the adult teeth are in. If it’s still really bad, talk to your vet, they might be able to clean his teeth regularly and that helps, or they could at least recomend an animal dental clinic.

have him put to sleep and incinerated
or you could sell him to a Chinese restaurant.
another option would be to put the stinking bitch down yourself and refrigerate it. Probably taste better than its breath smells. you could prepare it with some rosemary potatoes and asparagus. i would recommend a red wine with canine.

I had a dog with very bad breath once, and after talking with the vet, the vet suggested a kind of dog mouthwash you squirt into it’s mouth from a bottle like device. It works great. So all I can say is maybe check with your vet for a solution.

take him to the vet, i have a dog with the same problem and the cause is his overbite of all things! So, he just has perpetually bad breath. I still love the little lover though!
