Can cheddar cheese be the cause of severe bad breath?

bad breath
?MizzUnderstood? asked:

My grandfather eats a bunch every day and his breath smells like potty. He’s grumpy all the time and refuses to accept breath mints, or toothbrushes. He even knocked some mints off my hand! ugh! Could the cheese be the cause so I can throw it away?

If he still has his teeth, he may have gingivitis or worse, periodontal disease. It makes your breath smell awful. It happens when people don’t properly clean their teeth, don’t floss & don’t get regular cleanings. Peridontal desease can effect the heart so he should really see a dentist.

If he has dentures, he probably isn’t cleaning them enough & he should brush the roof of his mouth & tongue to prevent bacteria from building up in his mouth & under his dentures.

    He should see the dentist.
