How to get rid of really bad breath?

Over the past few days my husband has had really bad breath and it was really bad especially over the weekend. I could smell it from his breath and when he breathed through his nose. He tried rinsing his mouth with mouthwash and of course he brushed his teeth several times. He also tried lemon water and his breath still smelled funky. What would cause really bad breath and what can he do to get rid of the bad breath?

Well, the only thing I can think of is to put sugar on a lemon and suck on it…I’m not sure if there’s really a problem. Maybe your husband just has bad breath . =\

I have heard that bacteria/fungus can cause this problem. Sounds worse than it is but apparently easy to treat. However, he needs to go to his dentist to rule out any underlying problems, i.e. decaying teeth with food in them, etc.
Good luck!

He needs to see the doc to find out what is causing it. Sounds like it is coming from his intestines if normal brushing and mouthwash aren’t helping. Give it a day or two in case it is something he has been eating but if it continues then he needs to see the doc.

The problem may not be his mouth. Sometimes bad breath is caused by something going on in the stomach. For a natural cure have him chew and swallow a sprig of parsley and see if that helps. Then you’ll know if it’s his stomach.

I’d suggest a visit at a dentist..Maybe a tooth is rotten..

1. Go to the dentist, a bad tooth or gums can cause bad breath
2. Check if he has some stomach problem
3. Don’t smoke or eat heavy foods, like garlic, onion, pastrami, sausages, etc.
4. Use antibacterial mouthwash.
5. He can chew cloves or mint for fresher breath.

Brush your tongue and the sides of your cheek helps. Or if that doesn’t work get some medicine.

If it’s really that bad he should first see his dentist!! does he floss? at least once a day? that can help…also TELL HIM TO SCRAPE OR BRUSH HIS TONGUE!! that’s where a lot of odor-causing bacteria can thrive..he can get a scraper at any drugstore or just use the edge of a spoon, or brush his tongue, but with a clean toothbrush, and AFTER he’s brushed….he needs to brush his tongue for at least 8-10 seconds, from as far back as he can reach (without dry heaving!!) and towards the front; & he should go all across the tongue…but see the dentist first,to rule out anything else that may be ‘going wrong’ inside his mouth..Sometimes certain foods can cause this, or perhaps his digestive system is out of whack….& as someone else said, he should really try to drink more water; WATER not pop, coffee, tea, but WATER….several glasses a day….hope this helps..good luck.

THE BAD SMELL IS EITHER COMING FROM HIS MOUTH OR STOMACH. DOES HE BRUSH AND FLOSS EVERYDAY? HE SHOULD BRUSH EVERY TIME HE EATS. AN UPSET STOMACH CAN ALSO GIVE BAD BREATH. WHAT DID HE EAT? SOMETHING THAT FERMENTS OR ROTS? SOMETIMES, WHEN YOU EAT A FOOD THAT TAKES A LONG TIME TO DIGEST,LIKE MEAT… ALONG WITH SOMETHING THAT TAKES LITTLE TIME, LIKE MILK, THE MILK GETS HUNG UP IN DIGESTION AND IT ROTS.
STUDY HIS DIET.YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT. IF ALL ELSE FAILS…CHEW RAW PARSLEY.

Bad breath – deficency in vitamin C can sometimes cause bad breath.

Maybe it’s his sinuses and post-nasal drip causing the bad odor. Maybe a sinus decongestant can make a difference.

He needs to see his Dentist. He may have periodontal disease where he has infection in his gums. If he has this there is no guarantee that it will be painful. He may have acid reflux. Have him brush his tongue to release bacteria that may be hiding in the taste buds. If that doesn’t help in a week or so, call the Dentist and schedule an appt.

Bad bacteria backed up in the bowels can contribute to bad breath or body odor, as the waste literally sits and putrefies in the colon. A thickly coated tongue can be another symptom of constipation. In fact, bacteria sitting in the colon for too long can lead to bad breath that never seems to get better no matter how many times you brush, gargle, or use fresheners. check this link out, good info here:
I wish you the best of luck, take care!
