Posted by admin under Dental
Dodo asked:
I brush my teeth regularly, floss, brush my tongue, dont smoke, chew gum often. and still. STILL i get bad breath.
i think I have a stomach problem or something because sometimes I can feel a little chunk of something stuck in my throat, when I cough it up it smells like poo. literally. what the hell is this? it bugs the crap out of me because sometimes it sits in my throat for days and i can’t cough it up or it goes back down.
what is this and how do i get rid of it? thanks

Cut back on dairy. Also drink lots of water and eat parsley and celery (if you like them). Some doctors believe rather than striking all the bacteria from your mouth/throat, you should add good bacteria and enzymes. Try biotene mouthwash and eating some yogurt or drinking Kefir (find it at heath food stores-it’s like mega-yogurt). You could also get acidophilus pills, which is what is in yogurt. Possibly these can help from below up, rather than just minting up your mouth and killing and healthy bacteria.

Your stomach issues are most likely causing the halitosis (bad breath). I would get to a medical doctor to see if that is the problem. Stomach problems can ABSOLUTELY cause breath issues. Other things can cause halitosis as well though, such as xerostomia (extremely dry mouth) or medications. Hope this helps.

You need to see a doctor and see if it is acid reflux. I have heard that it makes you have that and also can rot your teeth. You need to try and elevate your head at night, sometimes that helps. Just put an extra pillow.

sounds like you are getting the food caught in your tonsils which is a common problem especially if they are enlarged. you may want to speak with your dentist and/or physician about it. In the mean time I reccommend a product that I use( I work for a dentist) it’s a toothpaste called Breath Rx it has Zytex in it which is zinc and that neutralizes alot of odors it’s the best you can get it at Walgreens. but do see a Dr. for tonsils and stomach probs.

Gargle a cup of lukewarm water mixed with salt or half a lemon juice.This is best done before going to bed. Chew parsley leaves,which are sure to keep your breath fresh. Put a few drops of tea tree oil on your toothbrush top it with toothpaste, and then brush your teeth. More useful remedies at

there are lots of bad breath causes in the lists like dirty mouth, lack of oral hygiene, dry mouth, medications, cavities, gum disease, medications and other related illness especially in the stomach. the best thing to do to be able to eliminate bad breath is to be able to determine the cause of it, and be able to know what can prevent it as well as the appropriate treatments for it. seek the help of dental expert. he may find the answer to your quest for bad breath eliminators.
know that chewing gums and mints can add up to the bad breath problem since they have sugar. try using an all natural oral care for it does contain sugar for bad bacteria to feed on and speed up production. keep your mouth salivated and hydrated by drinking adequate amount of water. for more tips to get rid of bad breath visit

If we were truly committed in our desire to treat bad breath effectively, then we would consult with a dentist when the problem did not go away with simple oral hygiene measures such as brushing, flossing, and using mouthwash daily. However, no one wants to admit to having chronic bad breath issues so we try to treat the condition on our own. To this end, we scour store shelves for bad breath products that will hopefully take care of things without involving our dentist. Unfortunately, not only do most products fail to truly alleviate the problem for more than an hour or two-sometimes the things we take to treat bad breath end up making the problem worse!
If you were to take a good look at the ingredients in most products for halitosis, you might find that they read more like the periodic table of elements than in anything that might actually be healthy for our body, including:
* Zinc Oxide
* Chlorine Dioxide
* Oxychlorine
* Hydrogen Peroxide
With the exception of hydrogen peroxide, none of the products above will help the body to naturally cure bad breath. Where hydrogen peroxide is concerned, it is beneficial because it helps oxygenate the oral cavity while helping to control anaerobic bacteria levels. The other products also kill off bacteria but they tend to cause side effects that may cause dehydration and lowered levels of saliva in your mouth. When trying to prevent bad breath, the last thing you want to take is something that causes dry mouth and lower salivation rates.
Bad breath problems are almost always caused by oral bacteria in your mouth-specifically, anaerobic bacteria. These microbes don’t actually cause the odor that we associate with halitosis but their by-products do, such as:
* Methyl Mercaptan
* Dimethyl Sulfide
* Hydrogen Sulfide
In order to remedy a bad breath problem so that it does not return in an hour or two, you need to control the bacteria responsible for producing the by-products responsible for the odor. Saliva is the natural cure for bad breath because it helps control the microbes and their by-products in the following ways:
* Washes away both the food particles that bacteria feed upon and the by-products they secrete as waste
* Has high levels of oxygen which lower the reproductive rate of these bacteria so that less by-products are produced
* Help in the production of antibodies that literally neutralize the bacteria themselves
Thus, any bad breath products that lower saliva levels in the oral cavity can actually make the problem worse, not better. In order to fight bad breath and halitosis without worries about dehydration and dry mouth, try looking for oral hygiene products with the following natural ingredients:
* Lemon Oil
* Tea Tree Oil
* Eucalyptus Oil
* Thyme Oil
* Vitamin C
* Vitamin D
