Preventing bad breath from Retainer?

bad breath
Swanny asked:

I recently had my braces taken off, and now have a retainer. Unfortunately, it gives me very bad breath. I have tried a number of different things (soaking it in Peroxide, brushing it) but I still have bad breath an hour or two later. How can I prevent the bad breath for longer?

Just brush it with toothpaste more frequently. Also take it out after you eat to rinse and clean it.

Braces are the pits, however, they result in a beautiful smile. Believe me they are worth it. Now to bad breath. Up to 90 percent of bad breath comes from the tongue, not the teeth, so you can reduce your bad breath a great amount by cleaning your tongue on a regular basis. The bateria that grow on your tongue produce sulfur containing compounds that smell, that is bad breath. To really cure bad breath you must remove the bacteria that produce it. OraBrush tongue cleaner is designed to specifically clean the tongue. Learn more about the cause and cure of bad breath at.
