He is 2 years old and we just give him dog food with water. Is there anything that we can do to make his breath smell good?

Give him dry hard dog biscuits, good for his teeth and buy him a toothbrush, & brush his teeth! BUT WARNING ONLY WITH WATER TOOTHPASTE IS VERY BAD FOR ANIMALS. hope this helps! good luck with your bad breathed Siberian Huskey!

What type of food do you feed it? The type of food you feed it might make the breath smell bad.Hae you brushed it’s teeth in the last six months? The dogs breath gets smelly if you don’t brush it’s teeth every six months.

Is he on a good quality dry food? Check his teeth – do they need brushing. If so, get a small, soft toothbrush and toothpaste made for dogs and start brushing his teeth. If his teeth and/or gums are really bad (gingivitis) you might want to let your vet look at him. If left untreated, he might lose teeth or it could potentially cause more serious problems like kidney or heart trouble.

Given his age is only 2, he likely only needs his teeth brushed.

Get his teeth cleaned. You should be doing this at least once a year.

What are some possible causes? Bad breath in dogs is sometimes caused by bad teeth that may be rotting and giving off a bad smell. So check his teeth first. It also could be something nasty he ate, dogs will eat some pretty bad smelling items.

Let’s say his teeth are fine and he hasn’t been eating something foul, why nasty dog breath? Usually, poor digestion is the cause of bad breath in dogs. Your dog may be struggling to digest his food and the partially digested food could be giving off a bad smell.

If this info doesn’t help, most pet stores sell dog breath mints.

hes prolly been eating something, or his breath just stinks, its normal in dogs dont get me started in my dogs breath..you can get doggy toothpaste and toothbrushes, but thats a hassel. greenies and yip yips are great dog treat they are available in most pet stores and they get rid of bad breath and dogs love them, greenies are shaped like toothbrushes also to brush your dogs teeth and come in different sizes depending on the dog. there are also toys with bristles that will brush your dogs teeth also check if there are yellow spots on his teeth, thats plaque, probably the cause of it…if it does not get better however, there may be a probelm it should get better after using these products however!!

    good luck :]

I also have a 2 year Husky, female. And I don’t know if its a trait, but on some days just have really bad breath. The best thing I bought her that helped, were these bones call Greenies. And they look like green toothbrushes. Those help so much! Get Large or Jumbo. Most dogs go crazy for these things. So even if your dog doesn’t really like bones, I’m willing to bet he’ll like these. They also have doggy breath-mints, that you can buy at the counter of your local Pet Smart! I also got the greenies at Pet Smart as well. If you don’t like shopping at Pet Smart, I’m sure you can find them at Petco. But probably not at places like your wall-mart, or target. I’ve never seen them there. Hope it all works for ya! Good Luck!

Are you feeding soft food? This is usually part of the problem. The other could be your dog needs his teeth checked out, possibly a bad or abcessed tooth or his teeth need to be cleaned. Either way soft food usually attributes to bad teeth. I would try a good dog biscut and feed a dry kibble. I know people told you to brush his teeth. Just be really careful on what you purchase. Recently anything made in China including pet toothpaste has been recalled. I know for a fact that PetSmart and PetCo and other pet stores don’t always get everything off of their shelves when their is a recall. They try, but sometimes they are short staffed. I would definately get him to a vet to have his mouth checked. In humans and pets tooth plaque and decay can play a role in early heart disease.

Well, this might sound a little weird, but you could brush your dog’s teeth with specially made doggie tooth paste. I major in dog grooming at my school and we always make sure that we brush all the dog’s teeth.

What are you feeding your dog. Check out this link and see if ;your feeding your dog a quality food.

You HAVE to give your dog hard stuff to chew on to get the tarter off. For example bully sticks, raw bones, etc. Greenies are super bad so don’t even fall for that. If you have any doubts just goodle Greenies and you’ll see what I mean. You are giving your dog chewies and treats right?

Maybe it’s an internal thing and maybe it would be worth a visit to the vet to set your mind at ease and to get rid of the bad doggie breath ?

    Good luck!

The first website has 2 books written by a vet who discovered why dogs have so many tartar/bad breath issues now….

    Good luck.
