bad breath
rpsfu_83 asked:

progressively worse.I have tried probiotics, chlorophyll, parsley, detox products, oxygenating products from Dr.Katz, changing my diet to exclude meats, dairy.I had also been to a fresh breath clinic where they took samples from my teeth and tongue, which concluded that I have”very high numbers of gram positive cocci and bacilli. As well very very high numbers of gram-negative cocci and bacilli,a moderate amount of vibrios”.They then prescribed antibiotic mouthwashes and antimicrobial rinses like chlorohexadine that did not work (and did not seem to worsen the problem either.I find that the breath has been getting worse with age in general).I did not measure very high on the halimeter, which tests for VSCs.The odour is not sulphuric, but rather is of a putrid nature.I do not suffer from post-nasal drip. I have no cavaties, but I build up tartar very quickly, and was told that tartar builds up in basic environment,as does odor causing bacteria. My oral hygeine is very good.any solutions/help?

Well, even if your oral hygiene is good sometimes still you can get gingivitis and that can be a major cause of breath problems. Did u see your dentist? Maybe get an evaluation from him/her.

You said you don’t have post nasal drip but do you have sinus problems of any sort? From what you have said it doesn’t sound like the problem is in your mouth, it could be coming from your stomach or intestines. If you have allergy problems then there’s your answer, and you need to talk to an allergy specialist. If not then you need to talk to your dr about your stomach. You could have high acid content in your stomach which can cause a *rotten* smell when it digests food. (sometimes our body is just so gross! :-p) Also if you have acid reflux it could be bringing the smell to the surface which can make it worse. until the problem goes away use good toothpast and mouthwash (I recommend listerine) and chew gum which I have found orbit is strong enough to mask heinous odors. Your dr should be able to give you something to neutralize the acid in your stomach.

You said you build up tartar very quickly. Have you tried the tartar control toothpastes on the market? Baking soda brushing is also good for odor control. Followed by a good 3 minute brushing with tartar control toothpaste. Listerine kills a lot of germs and so I would follow up with a good Listerine rinse. Also, there are tartar control pre rinses that you might want to try. It seems since you have eliminated other causes, your build up of tartar is the last issue to address. I build a lot of tartar also and have had to go to these extreme measures to keep my mouth and teeth clean. I brush 3-4 times daily and go through my anti tartar routine. It works and the dentist says my teeth are perfect. I have never lost one and I am almost 50! Shh! Always carry a toothbrush with you to brush when you are away from home. Like after you eat in a restaurant so you will not let tartar accumulate.

This is not a joke…..but…..Do you use the bathroom regularly? Sometimes things get backed up and the body reacts to this is different ways.
