How to tell someone they have bad breath?

I just recently started seeing this guy, we have went out twice, but he has some really bad breath…it might stop me from seeing him again if i can’t fix the problem…but i dont know how comfortable i am with telling him because like i said we have only hung out twice, so its not like we’re close at all…any suggestions?

better to tell him straight out, as he might not know, say your not offending him but if something was “wrong” with you would you like to know about it??

offer him some mints or gum and be sure to take one yourself or it will seem rude.

since you guys aren’t really close..just very casually offer him a mint or something, Take one youself and act as if you are being polite and offer him one. If he doesn’t take one just keep trying it until you become closer then you can just tell him he has bad breath. i think if you get along with him his bad breath shouldn’t get in the way of you two getting to know eachother better.

I was with a girl for 10 years that had chronic bad breath. In all those ten years I never brought it up. I just learned to deal with it. Maybe theres something wrong with his gums or something he cant do anything about. Since your not close and dont want to tolerate the nasty smell i’d split instead of telling him and making him feel worse. Take care.

offer them a mint…or a piece of gum…every 20 minutes…forever.

I had a manager who had to talk to over 50 people a day including me at a telemarketing firm, but no one ever told him he had veeeeeery bad breath, but I did because I am very open and honest with people. Why would you let someone embarrass themselves constantly to many people? My manager did not know that he had chronic bad breath and thanked me for telling him. It turned out that he had a problem in his mouth around a certain tooth and he had it taken care of at the dentist office. We have been best friends for the past 8-9 years since that time.
Let him know that he needs to take care of his mouth because people just can not smell there own breath. He will appreciate you more for it.
