Glenda S asked:
I have tried all mouth washes, gum, mints, even parsley tablets- all only mask problem. This is caused from medication. I always have bad taste in mouth – I do brush 3x daily and also my tongue. Any suggestions.

Try getting a new toothbrush! All that plaque builds up and produces odor. You could also try some over the counter medicine for bad breath. Just ask your dentist, or ask the pharmacist and they should recommend something. Good luck!

chew parsley, suck on allspice, those are old time “breath mints”.

halitosis. if its caused by medication it will only get cured if you stop taking the meds. the smell doesnt come from the mouth. its from the stomach or the respiratory tract. sometimes you have bad breath if you have sinusitis or other respiratory problems. gastrointestinal problems could also be the cause. have a check up to find out.

Watch your diet, drink water, change toothpaste are some choices?

Check with your doctor and make sure this is a side affect from the medication and not a coincidence. If your positive it’s the medication, then I don’t think you can get rid of the problem unless you stop the meds. Masking is all you can do. Try BreatAssures or MintAssures. I’m a tutor and I talk close to people all day. I use these daily.

You have learned what most people do not know. That mouth wash, mints, gum etc., just cover up bad breath for a short time. They don’t eliminate it because it comes from the bacteria that grow on the top of the tongue and produce sulfur containing compounds that smell, that is bad breath. I doubt that your medication has much to do with your bad breath. Once you properly remove the bacteria by cleaning your tongue using OraBrush you will be very pleased.
