I bought this paste from petsmart. Its actually made for the cats bad breath and it works. You just put a bit on your finger and let the cat lick it off.

They make treats that are supposed to freshen cat’s breath, and clean their teeth. They also make a paste for cats as well. Try Pets Smart, or Petco.
You might also try switching the brand of food they eat. My girls eat Purina Cat Chow Indoor Formula, and their breath doesn’t stink. At least I don’t think it does :)

If your cat has bad breath, they are probably having problems with their teeth and/or gums, particularly if your cat is older. While food supplements like Greenies or other cat snacks may help your cat’s breath temporarily, it won’t solve the problem permanently if they have bad teeth or gum disease (and if the problem gets severe enough, nothing will help). Try and make an appointment with your vet as soon as possible for a dental checkup for your cat. If your vet doesn’t spot any problems that require professional cleaning, then try the teeth cleaning supplements that others have recommended and begin giving your cat food designed to help clean and strengthen their teeth such as Science Diet Oral Care. Good luck!

Listen to Southern Cat, she knows what she’s talking about. :)

The most common cause of bad breath in dogs and cats is dental disease (or periodontal disease). Could you imagine what your breath would smell like if you never brushed your teeth? The odor is due to all of the bacteria around the teeth and under the gumline.

You should definitely see your vet for a full dental checkup and dental cleaning. Dogs and cats require anesthesia for dental cleaning. (Anesthesia free dentals are no good – they cannot clean under the gum-line, and they cannot remove loose teeth this way). Your cat may require bloodwork before anesthesia, and also may require dental x-rays after the teeth are cleaned, just like you would get at your dentist.

Once the teeth are cleaned, you can feed a dental diet, brush the teeth, and feed the dental treats. If you ever get a puppy or kitten, start brushing the teeth from DAY 1 to try to prevent this problem the best you can.
