    toothpaste doesn’t stay on your teeth all day so it can’t combat bad breath. it could be

    a) a stomach-related problem (gas?)
    b) poor oral hygiene
    c) a cavity you do not know about.

    Buy a tongue scraper and scrape your tongue every morning and every night, and after every meal.
    Brush your teeth after every meal and just before you go to sleep.
    Floss inbetween your teeth to get rid of food stuck in them,
    and use a mouthwash that specifically combats bad breath.

    If all these don’t work, it IS a stomach problem.
    Hope this helps.

    Toothpaste isn’t going to solve your problem. It is most likely that your sinuses are the culprit. Try a daily sinus wash with normal saline nasal irrigation. Don’t get anything that has other additives in it. Just normal saline (NaCl). I believe that one is called Ocean.

    Go to the doctor and get tested for EVERY disease, syndrome, or problem. Your ‘bad breath’ is not a DENTAL problem and toothpaste will NOT help to combat it. Tell your doctor you NEED to end this ‘bad breath’ problem and ask for help from the doctor. BAD BREATH is the SYMPTOM of something going ‘wrong’ in your body … so see a doctor and get BETTER (not just your ‘breath’ but your HEALTH).

    In some cases toothpaste isn’t going to be enough. It may not even be a dental issue…you may want to speak to a doctor about this…sometimes bad breath is a symptom of digestive issues.

    Try using a real tongue scraper, flossing, brushing and using mouth wash. Also, keep hydrated with water. Things like coffee and booze are terrible for your breath. I don’t have quite the same problem as you but Crest Pro-Health is a great paste to try.

    first thing first…. based on your description, it seems like you have no tooth decay..

    then maybe, you have an intestine or throat problem..
    …..do you have a regular bowel? it’s another cause if it’s irregular…
    …..drink plenty of water, not 8 glasses but 3 liters of it.

    ……toothpaste – any brand,

    use MOUTHWASH instead. Colgate Plax will do

    All these answers are great. If it’s not a medical problem then just chew minty gum alot.

    I’m a retired Dental Hygienist. If it is dental related, as others
    have already mentioned it could be from (in order of likelyhood)

    1. You have Periodontal disease from not flossing enough. Toothbrushes physically CAN’T clean under the gumline in between teeth and they ONLY way to get the plaque and food out is by flossing. If you are not flossing at least once a day food debris is rotting (gets super stinky) and plaque is creating inflamation (infection). Just think if you didn’t brush your teeth how gunky they would get, so the same goes for the areas that only the floss can clean. I have come across patients, who thought they were doing an adaquate job flossing, but they were just moving the floss up and down in the center space between the teeth. What you want to do is to clean the sides of the two teeth all the way down to the bottom where the gum attaches to the tooth. When you floss press the floss against on tooth and as I said push the floss up and down going all the way to the bottom and then reverse the perssure so the floss is on the other tooth and do the same up and down proceedure. Flossing only take about minute once you get the proceedure down.

    2. A cavity you aren’t aware of that needs to be fixed.

    3. Gingivitis or more advance Periodontal disease
    from not brushing enough or long enough. Brush at least twice a day, three is even better if you can manage it. Don’t scrub your teeth with heavy pressure or use a very hard toothbrush, since this will damage your gum tissue. Spend a longer time brushing. When you go to the dentist, ask them to apply some “disclosing” solution and the brush your teeth the way you nornmally do and then look in the mirror (while your in the office) and see where you have left plaque…it can surprise you how much you have left. It’s very helpful to do this so you can see the areas you are missing and how much longer you need to brush to get everything off.

    4. Impacted tooth (usually wisdom tooth)

    5. Trench mouth (Necrotizingulcerative mucositis-acute)You would know if you had this. It is painful

    Possible non dental causes some of which have laready been mentioned and others you probably don’t have since you would be severely ill if you had them.

    A chronic sinus infection (your physican can help you with this or if necessary an Ear Nose and Throat specialist

    Ozena (chronic form of rhinitis)
    Chronic Renal Failure “Ammonia” odor (often assymptomatic)
    Lung abcess
    Pharyngitis (gangrenous)
    Ketoacidosis (Diabetic or starvation “dieters”) “Fruit”odor
    Bronchiectasis
    Bowel obstruction
    Zenker’s diverticulum an esophageal disorder
    Hepatic encephalopathy musty sweet or mousy (new mown hay) odor
    Esophagel cancer
    Gastric carcinoma
    Gastrojejunocolic fistula

    Hope this is informative and helpful.

    You can try this remedy and see if it helps. Put a few drops of tea tree oil on your toothbrush top it with toothpaste, and then brush your teeth. More useful remedies at

    mouthwash with alcohol can worsen your bad breath problem for definitely it can cause dry mouth which can speed up the production of bad bacteria inside the mouth. choose a mouthwash that has natural ingredients like essential oils.

    cut off chewing gums and mints for they contain sugar in which bad bacteria in the mouth can feed on, thus can make your bad breath problem really worse. if you think they are good in masking bad breath, well you are wronge because they are of no use in eliminating bad bad bacteria in the oral cavity.

    try to avoid foods that are garlicky. sometimes bad breath can come from stomach related illness. it can also have a lot of causes like poor oral hygiene, dry mouth, sinusitis, medications, bacteria, gum disease and gum infections. to determine the cause of your bad breath, you may need the help of a dental expert or dentist.

    have a good oral hygiene habits after meal, be sure to floss, brush, and scrape your tongue carefully and properly. keep your mouth hydrated by drinking lots of water. for more tips to get rid of bad breath visit

  10. Health Cracker Says:

    The range of halitosis remedies is wide indeed and bad breath toothpaste is just one more tool at your disposal in the fight against the embarrassing problem. Like so many of the over-the-counter remedies in the quest to cure bad breath, there is some considerable doubt as to the actual effectiveness of such products. Even mouthwashes that are loaded with anti-bacterial agents seem to work perfectly in the morning and then leave us vulnerable to social embarrassment as the day wears on. So, are any of these products helpful or are they just more marketing hype meant to separate us from our hard-earned money while at best only providing temporary relief from bad breath symptoms?

    Without question, the companies developing these products are trying to stop the most common cause of bad breath and that is the bacteria that are producing the Volatile Sulfur Compounds that actually cause halitosis. These bacteria feed upon the food particles that we leave behind in between meals or simply miss when we brush and floss. Like any living organism, bacteria need to secrete waste products and that is what the sulfur compounds are.

    When it comes to a toothpaste product meant to treat bad breath, it is possible for it to be effective-especially if it helps control plaque. In the search for a bad breath solution, plaque will play a central role in any effective strategy. This is because the bacteria can reproduce faster behind plaque because neither oxygen nor oral hygiene products are very effective in breaching this barrier. If you look on the back of your tongue, you may notice a white film coating. This layer is actually a combination of plaque, food particles, bacteria, and the VSC’s responsible for bad breath odor.

    A toothpaste that helps fight plaque should prove more effective when trying to clean the tongue and that will certainly help prevent bad breath from returning. However, this layer of plaque is often very difficult to penetrate, even with specially formulated toothpastes and other traditional bad breath products. It is often necessary to visit a dentist for a tongue scraping procedure in order to truly get rid of this layer of plaque and the bacteria responsible for producing the VSC’s and bad breath problems.

    Any bad breath product that is made from alcohol or chemicals that induce dehydration will ultimately cause more problems than they solve. This is because they reduce the level of salivation in the mouth and saliva is a naturally defense against the bacteria causing bad breath problems. Thus, you may notice that a product works great in the morning but leaves you with a dry mouth throughout the day and even worse bad breath than when you started.

    However, if you find a bad breath product that is made from all natural ingredients and is thus less likely to lead to dehydration, it is should help reduce bad breath. You may want to seek out products made with a famous home remedy for bad breath: baking soda. A bad breath toothpaste made with baking soda will help control bacteria without causing dehydration and thus prove effective in your fight against bad breath. Also, be sure to avoid things that can cause dehydration, such as:

    * Drinking beer or other alcohol products
    * Stimulants
    * Caffeine
    * Smoking
