Finding A Home Remedy For Bad Breath

Cavyl Stewart asked:

There is probably nothing more embarrassing than having bad breath. It is something that will definitely affect your social life and even life at work. Can you imagine talking to someone who is making it quite clear that your breath is offensive? Or can you imagine someone offering you a mint, obviously because your breath is more than enough to take? Getting rid of bad breath is actually quite easy and you don’t always have to go to a dentist if it can be controlled. Trying a home remedy first is always best before you spend the big bucks on something medical.

What Can I Do About Bad Breath?

Before looking for a home remedy for bad breath, determine first if it is indeed your breath that is disturbing others. Try and observe how others act around you when you are talking. They will more than likely take a step back while you are talking or try to avoid you altogether. But don’t let this get you down. The next step is to change your diet.

You probably have been eating stuff that has been leaving rich bacteria in your mouth. After all, bad breath comes from the bacteria from food in your mouth as it breaks down the proteins around it. If this doesn’t help, you may want to brush and floss your teeth more often and also gargle using a mouthwash after every meal.

This is so that you can destroy the bacteria that have gathered in your mouth, especially around your tongue. For the best results, you may even want to try washing your mouth out with baking soda that you have lying around your pantry. Baking soda actually helps to clean teeth. Just don’t try to use it all the time.

What Other Ways Can I Use To Prevent Or Control Bad Breath?

There are other home remedies for that you can use to prevent bad breath from forming or getting rid of it if you have it already. One of the methods is to chew your food properly and drink a lot of water in between meals. This will help your stomach to digest food properly and the water will also help to wash down all food particles so that they do not collect too much in the mouth. Still, you will have to brush your teeth to get rid of the bacteria that do collect.

Another home remedy for bad breath is to rinse your mouth with a glass of water and the juice of half a lemon after every meal that you have at home. The lemon can kill some of the bacteria in your mouth. It works just the way a mouthwash does and perhaps even more effectively.

Lastly, you should also make sure that you are healthy and that you have the right vitamins in your body. Try taking calcium supplements, Vitamin C, and Vitamin B-complex to prevent bad breath bacteria from forming. These are just some of the home remedies for bad breath that you can try first before you decide on going to the dentist.

how do you treat bad breath?

bad breath
soldrgrl asked:

I have seen a dentist and he tells me that it’s not my teeth. I brush, floss and use a tongue scraper regularly (3-4x day) and use mouthwash. I also drink a lot of water. I think it is coming from my sinuses. I spoke with my doctor and she prescribed a nasal spray (forget the name). This didn’t seem to work so now I am taking claritin -D in addition to the spray. I still seem to have this problem. This is terribly embarrasing and I don’t know what to do. Has any solved this problem?

Beating Bad Breath – 4 Simple Home Remedies To Freshen Your Breath

Abhishek Agarwal asked:

Bad breath becomes a social problem for any one who suffers with it. They cannot get close to people without feeling embarrassed and are always aware of this short coming. Some people cannot afford to go to doctors and some just do not like to do so especially, to dentists. For this category of people there are home remedies which could be of some help, maybe not in curing the problem but at least minimizing it to some extent.

1. Thorough cleaning habits

Keeping good oral hygiene and maintaining clean dental habits is the first remedy. So it is essential to brush your teeth after every meal and floss them at least once a day. If you cannot do this minimal thing then it shows that you are either not aware of the problem or do not want to be bothered with trying to maintain a better oral hygiene. This would be the first step in helping you to get rid of your bad breath.

2. Eating avocado helps bad breath

This is not a much known fact but eating avocado can reduce bad breath considerably. Of course you should not do the overeating bit too. This fruit is available easily in every grocery store and is effective in controlling the problem of bad breath to quite an extent.

3. Reduce your intake of protein

If you are conscious of the fact that you have bad breath then you should find out the reason for it too. Maybe you are eating protein rich food like too much of steak or chicken and meat. This definitely increases bad breath. Instead switch over to more vegetables and fresh fruits and see the improvement in your condition. By changing your eating habits you will reduce or even get rid of the bad breath completely.

4. Start drinking more water

Another common cause of bad breath is a dry mouth. Drinking more water will not only help this but also help many other medical problems too. You can consume water directly or eat a lot of water bearing fruits and juices to increase the quantity of fluid intake on a regular basis. It is advisable to take drinking water in a measured bottle and make it a point to finish this water. In this way you will be aware of the amount of water you have consumed and can try and increase it a little everyday.
