Give him breath MINTS
If you’ve had his teeth and overall health checked by a vet and had them cleaned, the only other thing I might suggest is switching him to dry food if he is eating wet. It keeps their teeth cleaner and it doesn’t give them as bad of breath.
there’s these mints for dogs and cats now u can buy or buy a dents bone tht works for when i had my dog
perhaps the pie-hole needs a good brushing, or in a worse case scenerio teeth may be in need of removal.
My mom’s old fart doxie at 15 had quite the case if ick in her ears and mouth that she became quite offensive to all around her!
Teeth have been descaled and polished…. then it is the food diet. change food.
I had a very old dog also (a few months ago passed away). It can be just because the dogs stomach, or it can be because of of his teeth is rotten.
You may have to wean him onto a new food. Sometimes severe breath problems are caused by diet. If you don’t already have him on a seniors formula, ask you vet about one. If he is on a seniors formula them perhaps just a change of brands will help, again ask you vet for a recommendation.
hello, ha ha , i had to laugh i had the same problem.with a pitt bull, i have went so far as to brush his teeth, and if you haven’t tried denta-bones, thy help alot. and the vet can give you some tooth paste, that might help also. good luck…
I use to have a 135lb. bull mastiff-ridgeback mix, and he always ate dry dogfood, with a little wet food on top, but ,the natural dog biscuits he ate kept his mouth odor, down to very little. The dogs need dry dog biscuits, to chew, as they help in cleaning the teeth, and keeps them smelling pretty good.I f all the dog gets is wet food , look out, for the doggie breath. Hope that works.
Try mint doggie treats, and chew toys that say they make your dog’s bresh fresh. Also, you can buy mints for your dogs, or order them online. Good luck! 😉
you could get dog breath bones called Greenies.
I have this same problem with a toy applehead Chihuahua we got two weeks ago from a puppy mill home. That was her second owner, tho only long enough to be mated and bare a litter. Her breath is bad. She was on a total chicken died. And that was only when the owner could afford to feed his dogs.
I would advise buying what they call, ” greenies”, if you’ve
had the teeth cleaning done. I assume you try brushing at
home with a doggie toothpaste? Do you lay her down on the floor between your legs and brush with doggie paste and rinse with water nearby? We’ve used greenies for four years with our older Chi, without her having any bad breath. She also nibbles on dry food, under the brand of, Pet Promise for older dogs. And the apple head is taking to it now. They get people food, only when there is some left over in a limited amount. I believe it is the chicken diet that makes the bad breath, for lack of nothing orally being wrong. It may take a week to notice the improvement of the bad breath, but continue the brushing everyday. Maybe even brush the tongue as we’re supposed to brush ours also. We are already changing the diet of our new little dog and next we’ll have to get her teeth cleaned when she’s spayed next month. I do believe it’s the people food that gives the bad breath. Since our older dog has been perfect on the dry food. And never has had her teeth cleaned yet. The greenies do the job, since they are chewible, edible, and have clorophil in them.
Now the little one loves them as much as our older Chi does.Look for them at your grocery store in the pet aisle.
