Heartburn help (33 weeks pregnant)?

humanbeforeamerican asked:

I have had really bad heartburn. This was manageable with tums, however I was recently told by my OB that I had anemia, and I was put on iron pills. The bottle says I cannot take antacids with it (after research I see it is because it may not allow the iron to absorb into my body.) Are there any natural remedies or tips you guys can give me? I feel like there is lava in my esophagus….
the bottle says i shouldn’t take dairy or wheat products either….I have an appointment next Friday, but figured I would see if anyone else had any advice

  1. Keep Breath Fresh

I had to take iron pills with my last two pregnancies also…if I recall…you can take antacids..it just can’t be within a few hours of taking the iron pill. Call your pharmacist and ask..but I remember I could still take the antacids..just not within like 2-3 hours of the iron pill.

  2. Bad Breath Cure

Milk helps and Aloe Juice is a sure helper with the heartburn – you can get it at the pharmacy, or walmart or a health food store – I used to get it from Herbalife. It doesn’t taste the greatest, but it helps. One thing I’ve had to do is really really watch what I’m eating – I have terrible terrible heartburn and as long as I eat “white” food (that’s what I’ve found with myself) turkey grinder, white rice, simple foods then it really helps. Def stay away from artificial fruit flavors, red sauces, juices….. keep it white and it may help!! good luck ?

  3. Cure for Halitosis

Sounds weird but when I have heartburn I eat granola bars. I tried several different things to make it go away and that’s the only thing that helped.

Since becoming pregnant I have not be able to drink milk without becoming very sick so that wasn’t an option for me.

Just try different foods and drinks and see what helps you the best. I had to stop eating Peanut Butter and Jelly because it gave me heartburn but I can eat all the mexican food I want and feel amazing.
