buy yourself some mints and take them out around the other person and offer them one…and if they say no then be like you know you want one…in like a convincing voice

You could tell them that they really need a breath mint. Even that might not help if they have bad teeth. Rotten teeth will cause halitosis and no amount of mouth wash, or breath mints will cure it. Trust. ;-()
Just get some mints or gum and offer it to them. More than likely they’ll say yes. If they don’t, ask them what flavors they like, so you can get for next time. If it’s like your best friend and she is going to talk to her crush and she denies the gum, I’d flat out tell her. Like whisper in their ear “Trust me. It’s for your own good” and offer the gum/mints again. At least you would still be semi-tactful if you said that rather than screaming “YOUR BREATH IS HORRID!!!” Hah.
i just tell them their breath stinks and if they need to talk to me i tell them to turn their head!!!
