  1. She is partly right. Up to 90 percent of bad breath comes from bacteria that grow on the top of the tongue and produce sulfur containing compounds that smell, that is bad breath. Dairy products are an excellent food source of bacteria. When you eat dairy products some of this food stays on the top of the tongue and becomes a food source for the bacteria. Dairy products are not like “garlic” which can stick on the tongue and cause garlic breath, which is the smell of garlic not the smell from the bacteria.
