Take the dog to your vet’s for a professional dental appointment/cleaning.
You might need different food. Make sure his teeth are clean. Brush with dog toothpaste. Give him chew toys. Take him to the vet to see if there is an abscess or other tooth problem.
by brushing their teeth regularly?
Brushing his teeth is probably the best answer. His teeth are more than likely dirty, and brushing them will help a lot.
Also, one thing that I do that help clean his teeth is giving him Pig’s Ears, or rawhide to chew on. Basically chewing on anything will help him, but those work the best on my dogs.
brush there teeth
Get rid of your dog?s bad breath Purchase toothpaste from your vet (yum! poultry flavor!), Feel free to use any human toothbrush. ?Brush once a week, or as often as you can. By doing so, you?ll reduce plaque and tartar, helping to prevent gum disease, which can lead to loose teeth. not all dogs will put up with brushing. (It?s best to start when they?re puppies, but some older dogs can be trained.) you start by running your finger inside the dog?s mouth every once in a while. Move to a soft cloth and then a cloth with toothpaste before graduating to a toothbrush.
Never use human toothpaste on your dog. Your dog will invariably swallow whatever you clean his teeth with. There are many flavored dog toothpastes on the market which are designed to be swallowed. Finding the flavor your dog likes will make brushing all the easier. Toothpastes come in many flavors including beef, chicken, malt, vanilla and many more.
Take your dog to the vet if he has chronic bad breath. Bad breath can be caused by many things, including (copied from):
Broken, Decayed or Abscessed tooth.
Periodontal Disease
Periodontitis (inflammation of the tissue surrounding the teeth)
Bone or foreign body stuck between the teeth
Gastrointestinal disease including cancers and obstructions
Sinus infections
Kidney Disease
Mouth tumors
Or it may be something as simple as needing them cleaned. To stop bad breath in my dog I feed her bones from the butcher shop, they keep her teeth very clean. Or you could buy a dog toothbrush and paste and try to clean them yourself.
You can buy breath rings and breath bones for your dogs breath. Just be sure to get the more pricey ones because the cheapest ones don’t work. You could also get a dog toothbrush and toothpaste, that’s what I use for my dog and it works.
I recently changed my dog’s diet to a raw food diet. The meaty bones help clean the tarter and buildup off naturally. I have noticed a big improvement in his breath as well as his overall well being. A good website is: (click on raw food diet)
Hi,
Brush! Three times a week, brush your dog’s teeth and gums, using a soft toothbrush. Starting this habit early can make it a pleasant (and fun) experience for you and your dog. Be sure to use special toothpaste made for dogs; never use human toothpaste.
Schedule a regular veterinary dental exams every six months, learn to recognize the following warning signs of periodontal (gum) disease:
Halitosis, otherwise known as bad breath, is one of the most obvious signs of gum disease. If you can smell your pet’s mouth before you can cuddle up to him/her, then there is clearly a problem! That foul odor is a result of bacterial products involved in periodontal disease and should serve as a wake-up call to any pet owner that something isn’t right inside your pet’s mouth.
