Nicole S asked:
My maltese dogs have the WORST breath. One of them smells like butt, and the others smells like the seafood section of a grocery store. It makes me sick. What can I do?
I try brushing their teeth once in a while, but it dosnt help but for 1 second, and they hate it.

Well, stop feeding your dogs poo and seafood for a start. Then give them normal dog food.
alot of small breeds have bad breath due to lack of good dental hygiene. my sis has a maltese and she gives her little hard snack bones, but they have to be tiny so they can chew on them, and that keeps the teeth pretty clean and helps with the breath.
Small dog especial need to have their teeth cleaned at the vets. They need to be knocked out and have all the crap scraped from their teeth. Small dogs tent to have problems with their teeth and often need to have some removed because of decay.
Take them to the vet and have their teeth cleaned it will help.
a lot of these dogs get teeth problems. when my dogs got bad breath i had to take them to the vet to get their rotten teeth pulled out. you may not see or think that they are rotten but get that way very easily.
You can give them raw chicken necks and bones to help with cleaning their teeth. after a while they will get cleaner and healtheir and wont smell as bad anymore.
All dogs have bad breath. I do believe there is a certain scent gland in their mouth, though I am unsure of why it is there.
To fix it, try going to your local pet shop. In the treats isle, there are usually a few different types of breath-killing treats that avoid bad breath. My dog eats homemade ones that i make for him, one a day, and ever since, his breath hasnt been half as bad as what it used to be. In fact, its not really bad anymore.
If you would like to learn how to make the dog treats, go to there are breath bustin biscuits i belive they are called, that are the type that i make.
Good luck! Hope you get the result your looking for!

Take them to a vet for a dental cleaning but make sure the vet will use Isoflurane as the anesthetic.
My dogs breath is bad too. We’ve tried everything, brushing, dental bones, you name it. We even had him put under so that he could get his teeth cleaned. Our vet can’t even help us with it. He just has a** breath and we have to deal with it.
I would have the vet check their teeth just in case. What do you feed them? How long have you been feeding it, and how long have they had the bad breath? Since you have small dogs, it would be fairly cheap to feed them a raw diet. Chewing on bones keeps their teeth clean.
I would take your pups to the vet to have their teeth checked to make sure that it’s not a more serious problem and just a case of bad breath. You might find that it’s time for a professional cleaning. In the meantime brushing will help and there are also dental treats that you can give them. I like bright bites – it’s designed to clean teeth and gums and it comes in different flavors – peppermint, cinnamon and spearmint – to help with the breath -.
