  1. Honestly, I can’t think of one. But if it were me, I would probably start chewing gum, or talking about dental hygiene in a subtle way so as to awake their senses.

  2. There’s nothing more truthful, than asking if that person would like a mint. Just pop one in your mouth first and then ask if they want one.

9/10 times the person will take it just to be courteous. But infact you influenced them to take it. Go ahead and try…it’s fun. 🙂

  3. Very subtly cover your own mouth and very slightly move back. If the person moves towards you, back-up a little bit. If the person asks what is wrong, force a tiny smile and look down and say nothing.

Also, you can offer a breath mint — but, you also take you. Say, “I feel like a mint. Would you like one?” Offer the person the mint and then take one yourself.

  4. It depends on how well you know the person. If it is someone you know well then just explain that you are not telling them to be mean, but you don’t want others to think badly of them as they are a great person, but they may need to see a dentist about their halitosis. Some people brush, floss and use mouthwash and still have bad breath. It can also be a sign of several diseases.

  5. I offer gum, but only after I’ve had a piece myself. Generally I try something like “this new gum is great. you want a piece?” When this method doesn’t work, I honestly have no idea what to do. One of my former bosses had horrible breath–and I just suffered for three years.

  6. you don’t say a word, all you have to do is take a breath mint and hand the rest to the other person. if they can can’t get the hint than stay at a distance, sorry.

  7. well if you offered mint and gum, and that person didn’t take it, their not getting it, i did the same thing to this guy i know, about the gum, and he said no thank you i have a bad tooth,
so i had to come right out and tell him, Hay your breath are KICKING….. now he use mouth wash every day…..

  8. tilt your head the other diection ,raise one eyebrow and cover your nose with your hand and look at them as if they just offended you.

  9. If it is a person who is close to you—you can address it in a nice way. I would say –“hey, I would want to know if I had offensive breath, and I’m just telling you to make you aware of it.” You can ad lib a little more to the concept.
If it is a person you will never see again–who cares what they think?? OK joking…sort of. You can choose to remove yourself from the situation.

A person who you must see again will probably appreciate tactful honesty. I know I would.
