Could be acid reflux. The muscle that keeps your stomach acid from backing up into your throat doesn’t always work as well as it should. You can try a few things to make it not as bad; don’t eat too much fatty or spicy food (and avoid alcohol), and stay upright for at least a half hour after you eat. If it happens a lot, you should go see a doctor about it because your throat isn’t designed to withstand stomach acid, and being exposed to it regularly can be really bad for it.
Quite apart from the fact that the acid in your mouth can eat away the enamel on your teeth.
In the first instance I would try remedies for heartburn found on this site but if none of those fix it for you then you must see a doctor because you could have GERD which is also known as GORD.
It’s the same disease and requires medical intervention to cure it. GERD stands for Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease, GORD is Gastro-Oesophageal Reflux Disease.
Try the natural safe remedies first though because often that’s all you will need.
