This has been happening for about a month. First I noticed the bad breath, then I noticed that he was drooling on my dad’s bed. he’s pretty old, too. Is this a sign that he’s going to die soon?

He probably is having dental problems. This can happen at any age, but especially in old age. Best thing to do is get his teeth looked at by a vet. He may be in pain and may need teeth removed.
No…it is probably a sign that his teeth are rotting out of his head. Cats often drool when they have sever dental disease. Look at his teeth, if they have large chunks of tarter and red gums…or even broken teeth, you should take him to the vet….if you can’t or won’t do the dental….then the right thing may be to put him to sleep if he is in pain….go to the vet asap!
I supose so, I’m sorry 🙁 If it starts to get terrible pain, the best thing to do is to put it down. It’s for the best to keep it’s suffering short.
you need to get this cat to the vet asap. the bad breath can be a symptom of intestinal problems or just bad teeth & gums.

Could be an abcessed tooth or mouth tumors. Take him to the vet ASAP.

Cats normally have a bit of odor to the breath because as carnivores, their food releases some molecules in their breath. Particularly if they eat fish-based food!

Sounds like kitty might need to be taken to the vet for a dental check. You should take him ASAP

My cat was old too about 13/14 ,the drooling made us take it to the vet said it was a cancer of the mouth ,the meds to fix it would make “Cat” too weak to get any better;catch-22,gave Cat a couple of pieces of ham”a Favorite” while at the vet’s held on my lap while the Shot was giving went to sleep happy .Sorry 8-(
