1. My dog chews on plush toys and that cleans her teeth, they are just perfect! Also we let her chew on small raw hides. If I had to I would also just take a towel and wipe the teeth down everyday instead of brushing.

2. You should find out WHY she has bad breath. Could be a bad tooth that needs to be taken out. My dogs eat good quality dry dogfood and they don’t have bad breath.

3. Ya know, I dont buy all those fancy dog breath cover ups…I was gonna say to brush her teeth, but I see in your question that she wont let you brush them…I was suggested by someone that if you put fresh mint leaves in thier water bowl. I’ve tried it and it works pretty good for my pit bull.

4. Trust me, you HAVE to get to the source of the problem, for your dog’s sake if not for yours. My dog used to have terrible breath when we first got her, and it was from the DISGUSTING food the “breeder” was feeding her. That was, of course, quickly resolved. You mentioned that the source of her bad breath might be her teeth.. My dog also has a terrible time with tooth-brushing. There’s an amazing product from Farnam called the Easy Brush Toothbrush. If she’s at least 18-20 lbs in weight, she can use the small size. It’s a toothbrush that she chews herself for 2-3 minutes a day, and it gets her teeth SO much cleaner. My dog is only 15 lbs, and the brush is a bit too large for her, but she kind of chews it anyway. Also, try getting some beef dog toothpaste, dogs love that. Put that on the brush. The small brush is only about 15 or so dollars, but it’s worth every penny. They sell the beef toothpaste on ebay. This solution is SO so easy, and it really works. If not, you can try getting the 3 headed/sided toothbrush that is also much easier to brush with, if your dog is not big enough to use the Farnam brush. Dry food is better on your dog’s teeth, also, rather than wet. (Mine refuses to eat dry, though).. Premature tooth decay in dogs is not only a cosmetic issue. In some cases, it can actually lead to the premature death of your precious doggie.. They can also get mouth infections and gum disease. Then you’ll kick yourself for not treating the problem sooner, and having to spend hundreds and hundreds to get your dog’s problem fixed, if you can even at that point. If there are no brown stains on your dogs teeth (particularly the back ones) and the bad breath is not coming from his food, then you might want to ask your vet about it. Good luck!

5. You’re not likely wanting to hear my answer – but your first stop needs to be your veterinarian’s office for a check up. Yes, some dogs simply have bad breath, but bad breath can also be early signs of more serious, even fatal conditions. She might have an abscessed tooth, kidney failure, and more. I understand not having the money to have her teeth professionally cleaned, and that makes me angry…sometimes I do think that being a veterinarian is simply a way to print their own money! But, call and ask around, ask the veterinary offices, ask friends etc about which vet locally will work with you as far as treatment and payment options. I have used dentabones, there are also dog toys made from dental floss type string (if your dog will chew on toys, mine won’t). I’ve also had good luck with parsley, there are even dog biscuits on the market which have parsley in them already. Good luck! PS I have 2 dogs who both need their teeth cleaned – dogs are expensive and it only gets worse as they get older! So it might be a good idea to start a change jar in your bedroom where you can toss your coins in every night, then roll them and put them aside so that you will have the money for veterinary care when it is needed.

6. I need so more detail like what you have tried. Greenies are expensive and the are ok for cleaning teeth but don’t do much for bad breath. They also have new and crunchy dog biscuit. They also have doggie breath sprays out there, and doggie liquid tartar removersad breath killers that you can pour into their water or on the food. Check the back of the bottle for directions. I have used these and they seem to work to as a temporarly thing. I really would like to recommend White Bites Oral Care Dog Treats. They have baking soda and a mint in them for the breath and cleaning, milk for easy digesting and a taste the love! My puppy also has bad breath, and so far these are the only thing that work for him. I swear when my dogs eat one it smells like they ate some Ice Breaker gum or an Altoid mint from, outside their kennels! They are strong! I posted a link to the home page below. I have seen them at petco, target, and wal-mart. If they have been located anywhere else can anyone please let me know? Hope you decide to try them! 🙂

7. I just purchased something called “Yip-Yap” doggie breath monts for my dog. They are all natural and they actually work!!! I bought them at pet-smart or pet-co I forget which. Good Luck!

8. If you never plan to have your dog’s teeth professionally cleaned then he could end up with periodontal disease as he gets older. You can get cleaning tools where they sell professional high quality dog food and other items or at the website below. One is called a dental scraper. I clean my dogs teeth with it and it gets all that brown plaque off her teeth. It took me a while to get her used to it because I didn’t start cleaning her teeth until she was two. With patience you can get most dogs used to you fussing with their teeth. Sometime you may only get one tooth cleaned at a time. It is worth it!

   If you still don’t want to go that route there is a product called Flossies Spiral Chews and Dental Kong Dog Toy that cleans dogs teeth.

9. well there’s a Purina dog chow that u can buy and it has dog mints in it to help freshen and whiten his teeth. hope this helps!
