did you tell it to brush its teeth at least twice a day?
it’s probably the food. i think most animals have bad breath!
Well… most cats have bad breath from the start, I would recommend getting special food that neutralizes bad breath, I know there are brands like that out there, just not sure which,
Hope I helped!
OR! You can buy these, Pit’r Pat Breath Fresheners that you get from this link=&brand_id=383
Also crunchy food when she gets older will help, the soft kitten food causes worse bad breath than hard crunchy food.
Because they dont brush their teeth.
Kity food made with fish products you can get a oral care product that comes in a liquid form that you add to kitys water from a pet supply place.
My cat used to have really REALLY bad breath too.I changed his food and gave him kitty treats that helps with bad breath. It should work afterwards. It could be the food that is causing it.You can also get a small toothbrush and paste at a petstore and try brushing your kitten’s teeth.
all animals have bad breath
I *JUST* came back from the vet with a kitten with bad breath. What I discovered is that kitty is allergic to some dry food ingredients. The result is superbad breath, more tarter buildup than you’d expect on such a young one, plus itchy skin and rashes from the irritant. I was told to put her on a lamb and green pea diet, which is available only by prescription. Your vet can tell you if your kitty is allergic to her food. The first sign is bad breath, I’m told.
Look at your cat’s teeth and gums.
At that age, she may be teething. I had a cat whose baby teeth didn’t fall out when the new ones came in, so each socket had two teeth in it, and they were getting infected and she had dragon breath. When I got her to the vet, she was more interested in the cat’s earwax, until I reminded her to look in the mouth. She finally looked, and went, “Oh my God.” Then she just pulled all the loose baby teeth with her fingers and gave her an antibiotic.
If there is redness or swelling around where the gums come in contact with the teeth, it could be gingivitis, in which case an antibiotic would help.
It could be the food you are feeding her. It could also be a health problem. At 5 months it could also be that she is loosing her baby teeth and getting her adult teeth in which can also cause bad breath
2 things i can think of
-she may have a bad tooth.
-it may be her food.
take her to the vet just to have her checked out. that way you know for sure and it isn’t something serious.
Just how bad is you kitten’s breath?
Maybe you think it’s bad and it’s just normal kitten breath.
If it’s not really too bad you cat may just need a change of diet to a healthier food.
If the odor is really bad it could be a sign of an infection of his teeth or gums. Check to see if the gums are red or raw, look at the gums above the back teeth. It could be gingivitis or gum disease.
If you notice any change in eating habits(like not wanting hard food) or grooming it is probably a medical problem that needs to be checked out by a vet.
If the vet checks your kitten over and there’s nothing wrong you can start brushing her teeth and the bad breath should go away.
Obviously the wrong toothpaste.
