I have a rat terrier, about 4 years old with extremely bad breath. Any solutions besides going to a vet?

She only eats dry dog food, her teeth don’t appear to be bad, she acts normal in every other way. it’s so bad you can’t stand to be by her! i’ve bought breath mints, etc and nothing seems to help!

How do I distinguish between normal cat bad breath, and need-to-see-a-vet bad breath?

We have a cat with bad breath, but — well, our cat’s breath smells like cat food, really.

She eats good quality food and some dental/breath treats, but — still not great. I haven’t had cats for very long, so figuring out how bad is bad for a cat, if that follows, isn’t easy. Would there be a sort of decaying odour if there were dental problems involved?

She is not the sort of docile thing who’ll easily submit to a tooth brushing, too…
She just yawned on me. ‘garbage’ is the best description I can think of for the smell. Poor kitty…

How to cure my Rat Terrier of her bad breath and teeth?

My female rat terrier, Zoe, has the habit of licking herself like a cat. Over the years it had wore down on her teeth, pretty much rotting them. it’s extremely gross and makes her have horrid breath. We took her to the vet and they pulled nine teeth. She looked creepy but her remaining teeth were white.

Well, the teeth are turning brown again and her breath is, once again, horrible. I don’t want to take her to the vet yet, because i’m afraid they’ll have to pull the rest of the teeth so i’m trying to see if there is another solution that is less dramatic.

She won’t eat any of the bones that will actually help clean her teeth and breath. i’ve tried brushing her teeth but it did not really work either. Is there some kind of medicine, a pill? Or something I can put in her water? Any advice?
